This publication was produced on the occasion of Ellen Rothenberg's solo exhibition, PROTOTYP/MUSTER, September 12–October 25, 2025 at world in a room - projektraum für fotografie, Berlin.

PROTOTYP/MUSTER features photographs from Chicago, Berlin, and Marseille that trace the rapid shift from analog to digital technologies and its impact on how we communicate. Image sequences and production methods mirror this fluid transition, juxtaposing landscapes and green-screen rigs with urban remnants, abandoned pay phones, and a motion-activated LED projection. The works highlight our lingering attachment to obsolete exchanges and the uneasy pull of emerging futures.
