Arts + Public Life, an initiative of UChicago Arts, builds creative connections on Chicago's South Side through artist residencies, arts education, and artist-led projects and events. We envision a robust, collaborative, and meaningful relationship between the University of Chicago and the South Side's vibrant civic, cultural, and artistic communities.

Creative Director, Midnight Kitchen Projects  |  Chicago  |  May 2015–current

Midnight Kitchen Projects explores innovations at the intersection between visual art, food, and experience design. Chef Giuseppe Catanzariti and I partner to produce one-of-a-kind dining events and cooking classes for public and private occasions that result in memorable, unique, sensorial experiences for guests. Additional oversight of brand development, print, and digital marketing.

Creative Producer & Designer, Freelance  |  Chicago  |  2002–current

I provide strategic and creative services ranging from user research, content strategy, and art direction to digital and print design, video production, and event production. My specialty is in serving the needs of professional artists, startups, cultural organizations, and academic institutions. My work includes design and development of brand identities, art publications, marketing campaigns, responsive websites, environmental graphics, and producing marketing videos and special events. Projects include the oversight of teams typically comprised of creative talent, subcontracted developers, production assistants, and technical specialists. 

Producer, Neoteric Design  |  Chicago  |  Mar 2007–July 2015

This boutique interactive firm uses a multidisciplinary approach to uncover how customers use and understand products and services. I performed key roles as strategist and project manager. From responsive websites and web applications to mobile apps and interactive exhibits, I defined the scope and objectives for content-driven products, guided by lean startup and user-centered design principles. Through the whole project lifecycle, I worked closely with clients and stakeholders to balance timelines and deliverables, conduct user experience research, and developed creative briefs, content strategies, information architecture, and visual prototypes. Additional responsibilities included art direction, software testing, client services, and management of back and front end developers, adeptly translating “X to Y” across teams.

Archive Manager, Experimental Sound Studio |  Chicago  |  Sept 2003–Aug 2010

Over the course of seven years, I provided oversight of the Creative Audio Archive’s first four archive acquisitions: The Sun Ra/El Saturn, Malachi Ritscher, Links Hall, and Experimental Sound Studio collections. I created the finding aids and the archive website, and initiated the digital preservation and maintenance of the physical ephemera and audio recordings. The archive is made available to the public through projects in partnership with other archives and through a variety of ESS programs including broadcasts, tours, and private listening sessions. Artists are commissioned each year to reflect and respond to the collections and produce new works,
performances, and exhibitions, presented on site and in the Audible Gallery.
